Blackpool in late July, ice cream, funfair rides, the tower, and playing in the sand. After two miserable defeats in the USA, suddenly the friendly against the Seasiders on Sunday seems to take on a much greater. It’s not just a run-out against a lower division team, which has ties to Everton. It’s another chance for Everton to show its desperate fans as well as an annoyed manager in Frank Lampard.
Lampard was not happy after he saw his club fall 4-0 to MLS team Minnesota United, managed by true Everton Legend Adrian Heath.
He told evertontv,
“The players have to work and understand we were in a relegation battle for a big portion of last season. We had an amazing night [against Crystal Palace] and an amazing run…but, as soon as that finished, I put it to bed very quickly, so the players have to put it to bed as well, because we were in that fight for a reason. And if we don’t want to be in that situation again, they have to better and I have to be better. As a club, it [the Minnesota game] reinforced the situation in terms of what we need to do with the squad, because it has to be stronger that what we saw tonight.”
Many Everton supporters are angry with the lack of communication from owner Farhad Moshiri and the board, especially Chairman Bill Kenwright. As well as the lack of incoming transfers other than James Tarkowski. They question what is being done with the money from Richarlison’s sale. Although, considering the date it went through (30 June) it may well have gone towards helping Everton reach FFP goals for last fiscal year.
The 27 Campaign, which refers to the number of years since Everton have won a trophy. The longest in the club’s esteemed history. Protested outside Goodison Park on Saturday, 23 July.
Former Everton midfield stalwart Lee Carsley had a simple message for Moshiri and the club’s hierarchy. He tweeted
Despite numerous links with various players appearing, nothing has happened yet. Nothing has happened, even with Director of Football Kevin Thelwell remaining behind in the UK. Rumours continue to surface that Everton are looking to do loans with an option to buy. That’s no way for a Premier League team to behave.
Perhaps Everton will surprise everyone, but it’s unlikely.
I feel for the 27 Campaign, will they keep the original name or change it every year.
Do something, Bill.
Resign and let’s get some proper football people in to run this club.
