Dwight McNeil has joined Everton and does have good goals in his locker. But also in the video is Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring a thumping header. McNeil can provide those kinds of crosses for DCL. He’ll wear the No. 7, but don’t expect him to Richarlison.
Add in Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson and DCL and Dele Alli could have an embarrassment of riches. OK, basing DCL on a relatively uninjured say 35 games, he could easily score more than 15 goals. Dele on his history and yeah, it was a pre-season at a lower-level club, but the goals he scored were the results of late runs into the box. I don’t need no
stinking badges to know Frank Lampard can help Alli return to the former player he was.
Replacing Richarlison has been a big question this summer. He scored 10 times last season. He did also hit 13 twice for the Blues. Replacing his goals isn’t a big issue. Replacing the intangibles is the difficult part. Richarlison endeared himself to the Goodison Faithful with non-stop running and an incredible relationship with them.
With the transfer window shutting on 10 August, rumours continue. You’d think with the recent UK weather, just about any window would stay open through the entire of August.
The returns: Former Evertonians Idressa “Guana” Gaye and Ross Barkley could find themselves back at Goodison. Gaye is 32 but still can do a good job at the No. 6.
Barkley’s return is hotly debated, going back to how he left for Chelsea. But under Bill Kenwright and his myth-spinning. We can never be sure about the truth of any departures.
According to various reports, Frank Lampard likes Barkley and at his best the lad can play. He could be the playmaker Lampard wants.
This evening (Friday) Everton welcomes Dinamo Kyiv to Goodison Park in a match aimed to help raise funds and increase awareness of the situation in Ukraine.
A little history, Ukraine has either almost always been under threat. Remember the “Charge of the Light Brigade?” That was fought between Russia and an alliance of Britain, France and the Ottoman Empire. After Stalin tried to starve Ukraine to death; an invasion by the Nazis followed. Although some Ukrainians did things serve as guards in concentration camps, they are likely burning in hell alongside Margaret Thatcher, Hitler, and Ronald Reagan.
Ukrainians are incredibly brave, fearless, and quite nice people and they deserve their own independent nation. And this shouldn’t have to do with it, but, they have some of the most gorgeous women in the world! And some pretty damn good footballers.
Warning: By 1 September, I’ll be adding a paid subscription option. There be some stuff behind the Wall, but most stuff will be free.
We no longer want a diamond called Ross Barkley, right?
